Bream Classic

Junior $20.00 per entry: Juniors 16 Year & under eligible for Heaviest Fish ($500) & Catch & Release Special Prize

 

Junior $10.00 per entry - NOT eligible for $500 - eligible ONLY for special Juniors 16 Year & under Prizes

 

Briefing and Entries

Entries 6pm. BBQ 6.30pm

Briefing 7.30pm on Thur 22 May at Clubrooms (Melway 199F11)

 

Rules

1/ Adjudication on all matters incidental to the conduct of this competition shall be vested in the Werribee South Fishing Club Inc, hereafter called the "Marshalls", who may at anytime before or during the event, reject or disqualify any entry without giving the reasons for doing so to the person or persons concerned.

2/ Catch and Release – all competitors. Unless you intend to eat your fish, competitors are strongly encouraged to keep the fish alive and to release it after weigh in.

 

3/ AT EACH WEIGH IN: Competitors may weigh ONE (1) Bream - a total of THREE (3) fish per competitor for this competition, or submit photo or bream to be measured, for a total of three(3) fish per competitor.

4/
Fish MUST be presented in the same condition as caught, preferably alive, not frozen or otherwise damaged. FISH THAT HAVE BEEN ON ICE OR DAMAGED WILL BE REJECTED. Weighmaster and Marshalls will have the authority to inspect fish internally by gutting, and suspect fish will be rejected subject to the right of appeal.

Fishing is restricted to the Werribee River and for Bream ONLY, fishing from boat, pier, breakwater, jetty or shore. All State Fishing Laws, including licences, must be complied with. 

6/ROVING MARSHALLS on shore and in boats will be observing that these rules are adhered to.

7/
Right of Appeal. Any fish that is rejected will have the right of appeal. All fish that are the subject of appeal must be retained by the Weighmaster Marshall. Failure to allow the fish to remain with the Weighmaster will invalidate any appeal, which must be lodged in writing with the “Appeals Tribunal” when the fish is rejected and prior to the competition closing time of 2.00 pm. The Appeals Tribunal will consist of three executive members of the Club, who will convene when the protest is lodged.  No correspondence will be entered into and the Tribunal’s' decision is final and binding.

Prizes are awarded strictly to the winners and are not transferable. Each Competitor eligible for only one prize.

 

Catch & Release - Successful release is a mandatory requirement for entry to this section.

Catch & Release in the river by competitor - Entrants must provide own digital camera and photgraph the fish on the mat provided, including time & date of capture PLUS special identification object. Download capability program and USB cable must also be provided. Full length of fish must be clear and longest fish first caught will be the winner.

Catch & Release after measurement at Comp HQ - Entrants must keep fish alive and return to competition HQ for length measurement. The fish must then be successfully released, which is a mandatory requirement for entry to this section.

 

 

Access For All Abilities - AAA section competition Sunday from 8.00 am to 2.00 pm.

AAA entrants fish from 8.00am to 2.00pm Sunday only. Free BBQ from 1.00pm Presentations at 3.00pm. All AAA participants receive a participation trophy, and any that catch fish will be in line for competition prizes.


CARERS are entitled to free BBQ – no entry fee, but must pay an entry fee if they want to fish in the competition.

 

Competition Times -  12 Midnight Friday 23 May to 2.00pm Sunday 25 May (total  38 hours)

 

Weigh-in & Measure - Competitors MUST present OWN fish and OWN tag to
marshals for weigh in.

Sat 24 May - From 9.00am to 2.00pm, and from 4.00pm to 8.00pm
Sun 25 May - From 9.00am to 2.00pm.   An announcement will be made when weigh-ins are to cease.

 

Prizes – First weighed in or measured. One prize per competitor.

  • First Heaviest Bream weighed in - Open  - $500 cash and trophy.
  • Catch & Release Open – first longest bream recorded – Special Prize and trophy.
  • MALE - Next three Heaviest Bream weighed in – 1st, 2nd, 3rd - Trophy and Prizes.
  • FEMALE - Next three Heaviest Bream weighed in – 1st, 2nd, 3rd - Trophy and Prizes

JUNIOR ONLY - three Heaviest Bream weighed in - Junior  - 1st, 2nd, 3rd  - Trophy

 

Presentation -  3.00pm Sunday 25 May 2008 at competition headquarters

Conditions of Entry
In consideration of and as a condition of entry into the Bream Classic, I, my heirs, executors
and administrators agree to waive all and any claim, right or cause of action which I or they may have against the Werribee South Fishing Club Inc.A25537P or its servants, agents and assigns arising out of my death, injury, damage or loss of any kind (including equipment) which I may suffer or sustain in the course of or consequent upon my entry or participation in the competition. I have read the “Conditions of Entry” and “Rules”, both of which I clearly understand and agree to be bound by. Safe boating and fishing is at all times the responsibility of the participants.
